Exploit the Potential of this ancient Manor
More information
IL CASTELLACCIO
This property has an exciting and ancient history that dates back to the year 1000. The «Castellaccio» - meaning «The ugly Castle» - rises on top of a hill, above the town of Vogognano, from which it dominates the entire valley of the Tuscan hills, the river Arno running right through the valley below. Vogognano lies some 20 km. from the famous town of Arezzo.
The property needs to be restored, which opens for a vast number of options and opportunities, as Italian Authorities only require that the facade be kept as it is. Thus the interiors can be remodelled according to an overall master plan for the development of this unique estate. As is customary, we at paradiseintuscany can assist you in finding the right architects and craftsmen to realize the restoration according to your desires.
The “Castellaccio” was the ancient residence of the noble family Ubertini di Valenzano, belonging to Ubertino di Gualfreduccio until the year 1221. It is built on the ruins of an even more ancient Castle which dates back to the year one thousand. The present Manor, however, dates back to the 1700s.
The Castellaccio propriety comprises a total area of approximately 9500 sqm / 2,35 ac – of which 8000 sqm / 2ac of land.
The Manor is approximately 700sqm / 7535 sqf distributed over two floors along with a small tower, for a total of 22 rooms, some of which still have only partially revealed “frescoes” from the 1700s.
